A higher-clocked 9800X3D (5.6 GHz against 5.2 GHz boost) and the fastest gaming processor in the reviews we cite, though only by a few per cent. Eight cores make it a gaming chip first; for heavy rendering a 12- or 16-core part does far more. Buy it over the 9800X3D only if the price gap is small; it pairs with any fast graphics card, an AM5 B850 or X870 board and DDR5-6000.
