In raster games the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti are the same speed: on Tom's Hardware's 2026 testbed they are within 1 percent in Counter-Strike 2 and Black Myth: Wukong, and the Radeon is ahead in Alan Wake 2 and Fortnite. The RTX 5070 Ti pulls ahead with ray tracing on, and by a wide margin in anything that runs on CUDA: local AI and Blender.
At launch the RX 9070 XT was $599 and the RTX 5070 Ti $749. Both have 16GB on a 256-bit bus, both draw about 300W, and both want a 750W power supply.

Only rows where one publication ran both cards are here. Comparing a KitGuru figure with a Tom's Hardware one mixes two test systems, and that is how a card picks up a 30 percent lead it doesn't have.

Games without ray tracing: a tie
At 1440p on Tom's Hardware's testbed (a Ryzen 7 9800X3D with DDR5-6000), the RX 9070 XT averages 71.9 fps in Alan Wake 2 against 67.6, and 120.4 in Fortnite with Lumen and Nanite against 108.3. In Black Myth: Wukong both cards land on 65.9 fps, and in Counter-Strike 2 they are 434 against 429. Across those four games neither card is a tier above the other; which one wins depends on the game.
Ray tracing and AI: the RTX 5070 Ti
With Ultra ray tracing in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p the RTX 5070 Ti averages 54.1 fps and the RX 9070 XT 45.4, a 19 percent lead, and that is before DLSS, which most RTX owners turn on.
Outside games the gap is larger. In llama.cpp's community figures the 5070 Ti generates text with Llama 2 7B about 29 percent faster and processes prompts 38 percent faster. UL's Procyon AI text test (KitGuru) gives it twice the Radeon's score, and in Blender Open Data it renders 2.3 times as many samples a minute, because Blender's CUDA and OptiX paths are better optimised than its AMD HIP path.
Which one to buy
For a gaming PC, buy the RX 9070 XT while it costs less than the 5070 Ti. It matches the NVIDIA card in raster games for less money, with the same 16GB.
Buy the RTX 5070 Ti if you play with ray tracing on, rely on DLSS, or use the card for local AI models or Blender. In those cases the extra cost buys a real gap, between 19 percent and more than double.
If the two are within $50 of each other where you shop, the RTX 5070 Ti is the safer buy, since it is never meaningfully slower.
