Games
At 1080p Ultra in Cyberpunk 2077 the RX 9060 XT averages 76.8 fps to the RTX 5060's 70.7. At 1440p it leads by 6 percent in Counter-Strike 2 and Black Myth: Wukong and by 9 percent in Fortnite, and the two tie in Alan Wake 2. These are 1080p cards first: at 1440p Ultra both sit in the 30s and 40s in the heavy games.
Ray tracing and 8GB
With Ultra ray tracing at 1440p the RX 9060 XT 8GB falls to 11.1 fps against the RTX 5060's 19.2. Neither is playable there without upscaling, but it shows where 8GB and AMD's ray tracing both run out. If you are going to buy an 8GB card in 2026, buy it for 1080p at high (not ultra) textures. The 16GB RX 9060 XT is the better buy for $50 more.
Which one to buy
For 1080p gaming, buy the RX 9060 XT 8GB: a little faster at the same price, and it needs only a 450W supply. Buy the RTX 5060 if you want DLSS and frame generation, or play with ray tracing on. Better than either: spend $50 more on a 16GB card.
