The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is 5 to 7 percent faster than the RX 9060 XT 16GB in games on Tom's Hardware's testbed, and 25 percent faster with ray tracing on. At launch it also cost $80 more: $429 against $349.

Both have 16GB on a 128-bit bus, which is what makes either one a card to keep for years at 1080p and 1440p. The NVIDIA card's GDDR7 gives it 448GB/s to the Radeon's 320GB/s.

Games

At 1440p the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB averages 39.8 fps in Alan Wake 2 against 37.2, 39.2 in Black Myth: Wukong against 37.1, 255 in Counter-Strike 2 against 239 and 75.8 in Fortnite against 72.3. That is a 5 to 7 percent lead, the kind you see on an fps counter but rarely feel. With Ultra ray tracing in Cyberpunk 2077 the gap is 31.1 fps against 24.8, and DLSS frame generation widens it further in the games that support it.

AI and Blender

This is where the two cards differ most. In llama.cpp the RTX 5060 Ti generates text about 28 percent faster, UL Procyon's AI text test gives it more than twice the score, and Blender renders 2.7 times as fast on CUDA. If you plan to run local models on a 16GB card, the NVIDIA one is the better tool.

Which one to buy

For gaming on a budget, buy the RX 9060 XT 16GB. It is within 7 percent of the RTX 5060 Ti in games, has the same 16GB, and launched $80 cheaper, so you get more fps per dollar.

Buy the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB if you use ray tracing, want DLSS, or will run AI models or Blender. Avoid the 8GB versions of either if you can; see RTX 5060 Ti 8GB vs 16GB.

Questions

Slightly: 5 to 7 percent in games on Tom's Hardware's testbed, and 25 percent with ray tracing on in Cyberpunk 2077.

The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB: about 28 percent faster text generation in llama.cpp and more than twice the score in UL Procyon's AI text test.

The RX 9060 XT 16GB: AMD recommends 450W, NVIDIA 600W for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.
