For 1440p gaming, the best value among the cards that reach 60 fps is the Radeon RX 9070 XT. In Tom's Hardware's Cyberpunk 2077 test at 1440p Ultra with no upscaling it averages 81.8 fps, and at its $599 launch price that is $7.32 per frame, the lowest of any card on the list that clears 60. The RX 9070 and RTX 5070 follow at $7.47 and $7.92 per frame. Here is the whole ranking, and where the method can mislead.

How we ranked them

One test, one lab, one testbed. Every figure below is an average in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p Ultra, native resolution with no upscaling or frame generation, from Tom's Hardware's 2026 GPU testbed (a Ryzen 7 9800X3D with 32GB of DDR5-6000). The RTX 50 cards were read from its GPU hierarchy chart on 24 June 2026, and the Radeon cards from its RX 9070 GRE review of 2 June. Price per frame is the launch price divided by that average, the same sum our graphics card table does when a card has no live price.

That means the prices are launch prices, which is the main limit. A card selling above or below launch price moves in the ranking. Our live Best Buy prices are on each card's page, and when a live price is shown, the table switches to it.

What the table says

Cheapest per frame, but too slow. The RX 9060 XT 8GB is first at $6.81, and the RTX 5060 second at $7.10. Both average 42 to 44 fps at 1440p Ultra, below 60, and both have 8GB. If your target is 60 fps at 1440p, they are not the answer, and on the evidence in our RTX 5060 Ti comparison, 8GB can fall over when ray tracing is on.

The sweet spot. The RX 9070 XT at $599 and 81.8 fps is the best of the cards fast enough for 1440p at high refresh rates. The RX 9070 at $549 and 73.5 fps is close behind and beats the RTX 5070 at $549 and 69.3. We compare those two in detail in RTX 5070 vs RX 9070.

The step up. The RTX 5070 Ti averages 80.9, a hair below the RX 9070 XT's 81.8, yet its launch price is $150 higher, at $749. It costs $9.26 per frame. That is the clearest gap on the list, and it favours AMD in plain rasterised games. NVIDIA's cards lead with ray tracing and on CUDA tools, which this single test does not measure.

The top end. The RTX 5080 at $999 and 93.5 fps costs $10.68 per frame, and the RTX 5090 at $1,999 and 134.6 fps costs $14.85. Paying double for the 5090 gets 44 percent more frames than the 5080. It is a 4K card, and 1440p does not use it.

The pick for each budget

Under $350 and happy at 1080p: the RX 9060 XT 16GB at $349 holds 47.2 fps at 1440p Ultra and has 16GB for the games that need it. Around $550 to $600 for 1440p: the RX 9070 XT, or the RX 9070 to save $50. Past that, the price per frame rises quickly.
